BEL TechConnect engages young engineers in India’s defence technology mission

New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is strengthening its engagement with premier engineering institutions through its initiative, BEL TechConnect – Connecting Young Minds, to encourage young engineers to pursue careers in defence technology and contribute to indigenous innovation under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

As part of the initiative, BEL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Jain addressed students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, on the topic ‘The Evolution of Defence Technology for Data-Driven, Multi-Domain Digital Battlefields’.

An alumnus of MNIT Jaipur, Jain highlighted BEL’s contribution to national security and the growing role of advanced electronics, digital technologies and data-driven systems in modern warfare. He encouraged students to apply their engineering knowledge to real-world defence challenges and help develop indigenous technologies.

In a parallel engagement, Chinnappa Rajappa Patil, Chief Scientist at BEL’s Central Research Laboratory (CRL), Bengaluru, visited the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. An alumnus of NITK, Patil interacted with the institution as part of BEL’s efforts to connect emerging engineering talent with opportunities in defence research and innovation.

BEL has also increased the remuneration of its temporary workforce by more than 30 percent, the company said. The move is aimed at making employment opportunities more attractive to young professionals and encouraging them to contribute to critical defence technology programmes.

Through BEL TechConnect, the defence public sector undertaking aims to strengthen its engagement with young engineering talent and support the development of indigenous defence technologies, in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
