PC Sharma is new Member (M&M) of Railway Board

PC Sharma, who has taken over as Member (M&M) of Railway Board, was serving as GM of Metro Railway, Kolkata, prior to this appointment

New Delhi: PC Sharma has recently taken over as Member (Material Management) of Railway Board. He was also appointed as ex-officio Secretary to the government on the same day. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata, from September 20, 2018, to October 10.

Major assignments

PC Sharma is an Indian Railways Stores Services (IRSS) officer of 1981 batch. During his long career, he has held several important assignments in Indian Railways including Principal Chief Materials Manager, Western Railway, Mumbai, Chief Materials Manager in Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, Northern Railway, Railway Electrification, Allahabad and as Executive Director in Railway Board during the period between 1986 and 2013.

During his long career, he has held several important assignments in Indian Railways including Principal Chief Materials Manager, Western Railway, Mumbai, Chief Materials Manager in Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, Northern Railway, Railway Electrification, Allahabad and as Executive Director in Railway Board

Background

He has a wide experience of having worked as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Nanded from 2013 to 2015. Sharma started his career in the North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur, in 1983. He has also undergone specialised training in Technological Upgradation of Rolling Stock in Germany and Austria in 2008 & Advanced Leadership Programme at CMU, Pittsburgh, in the US in 2017.
