Rajesh Prasad assumes charge as Director (Operations) of RVNL

Rajesh Prasad, who was recommended by the PESB panel in September 2019, has assumed charge as Director (Operations) of RVNL Limited

New Delhi: Rajesh Prasad has assumed charge as Director (Operations) of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, on Tuesday. Prior to this assumption, Prasad was working as Executive Director in the same organisation. According to the order from the Ministry of Railways, Prasad has been appointed on RVNL board with effect from March 3, till the date of his superannuation i.e. September 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The information has been shared by the RVNL in a regulatory to the stock exchange on March 3.

PSU Watch had reported the news of Prasad's recommendation for the post of Director (Operations) of RVNL, by a PESB panel on September 24, 2019. He was selected from a list of five candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & background

Prasad is an IITian. He has done Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) and Master of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) from IIT, Kanpur. He also holds a diploma in Track Machine from Austria. He is an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer of 1988 batch. He has more than 30 years of experience in Railways and RVNL in various capacities in operations and maintenance, construction, bridge design, general administration and fast track implementation of turnkey projects. He has got vast experience of leading multi-disciplinary team and execution of work in the urban area. He had visited Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Thailand and China in connection with various metro works, project related to workshops and high-speed railway.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is a government organisation associated with Indian Railways. RVNL's task is to build engineering works required by Indian Railways.
