Ram Narayan Dubey appointed as Director (Finance) of NCL

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ram Narayan Dubey as Director (Finance) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a state-run Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal. According to an order issued on Tuesday, Dubey has been appointed on the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after June 1, till the date of his superannuation, i.e. May 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager of Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna coal PSU under the Ministry of Coal.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Dubey was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of NCL by a PESB panel on December 11, 2019. He was selected from a list of eight candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & background

Dubey is a Chartered Accountant, also holds an MBA degree from Calcutta University. He has been working with Coal India Limited since October 8, 1987. He began his career at South Eastern Coalfields (SECL) and was later transferred to BCCL in December 1988, where he worked in the Washery Division, Sales & Marketing Office at Kolkata, Purchase Department, Internal Audit Department, Corporate Accounts and Taxation Department. In April 2013, Dubey was promoted as Chief Manager (Finance) and joined Coal India Limited's Headquarters in Kolkata. At the CIL's headquarter he was looking after Clearance & Forwarding Division, Materials Management Division and Corporate Accounts and Taxation Department.

NCL produces 15 percent of the total coal produced in the country and contributes 10 percent in total electricity generation of the nation. The company, which is headquartered in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, operates through its 10 highly mechanised opencast mines spread across Singrauli and Sonebhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
