SCCL preparing to produce 10MT of coal per annum from Naini block

New Delhi: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is preparing plans to produce 10 million tonnes (MT) of coal every year from Naini coal block in Odisha, an official statement said. The mine is expected to start production from February 2021.

SCCL has decided to get a nod from the Odisha state government and the forest department by March 2020 and start coal production by February 2021. SCCL CMD N Sridhar has met Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in Bhubaneswar, the release said.

During the meeting, Sridhar sought the Odisha government's cooperation on issues relating to the forest, transfer of revenue lands, rehabilitation and railway lines for the mine.

Naini block estimated to have 340 MT of coal

Preparatory work, like drilling, has been taken up at two places in the coal block area. The Naini block is expected to have coal reserves totalling of 340 MT.
