The company started the operation of the first Tejas Express on 4th October 2019 on the Lucknow – New Delhi – Lucknow route. The train has been received very well in the rail passenger market and has been operating at decent occupancy levels. IRCTC will soon be launching the services of its second Tejas Express on the Ahmedabad – Mumbai – Ahmedabad route.

Along with a host of features and facilities which is being offered by IRCTC to the passengers of its Tejas Express such as exclusive food and beverage services, on-board security, housekeeping and infotainment services, IRCTC is offering a comprehensive and one of its own travel insurance without any additional costs to the passengers.
This complimentary travel insurance with coverage of Rs 25 lakhs being offered to each and every passenger travelling in IRCTC Tejas Express besides general travel insurance coverage also includes exclusive coverage of Rs 1 lakh against household theft/robbery during the travel period of the passengers.
In case of accidental death and permanent total disablement an insurance claim of Rs. 25 lakh will be handed out. For partial disbursement, an amount of up to Rs 15 lakhs and up to Rs 5 lakhs for emergency hospitalization will be handed out to the passengers of the IRCTC Tejas Express.
Besides, this special feature, in a first of its own, IRCTC also pays compensation of Rs. 100/- in case the train during its run, is delayed by more than one hour and Rs. 250/- in case of delay of more than two hours to every passenger as compensation.
IRCTC is offering this complimentary special travel insurance facility to the passengers of IRCTC Tejas Express through M/s Liberty General Insurance Company Limited – a Mumbai based private insurance company.
Though IRCTC Tejas Express on the Lucknow – New Delhi – Lucknow route has been running on time since its launch, the train has recorded a delay of more than 2 hours on 19th October 2019 due to delayed start from Lucknow in the morning.
Maintaining its commitment, IRCTC in association of Liberty General Insurance Company Limited has received and approved claims of 158 passengers within a period of 3 days out of which compensation has already been paid to 74 passengers while the claims of remaining 84 passengers have been already been approved for payment and are waiting for want of details from passengers.
This unique complimentary travel insurance product being offered by IRCTC for the passengers of its Tejas Express has become the unique selling point of these premium passenger trains and is being widely appreciated by the rail passengers.
