Chetan Prakash Jain (IRPS) assumes charge as CMD of Central Electronics Ltd

New Delhi: Chetan Prakash Jain (IRPS) has assumed the additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Central Electronics Limited (CEL) recently. Jain is an Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) officer of the 1995-batch. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research since October 19, 2020.

Jain completed graduation and post-graduation in Botany from Hansraj College, Delhi University (DU), Delhi, securing the first position. He also completed his M Phil from Delhi University before joining the service. He went on to complete his LLB from KC Law College, Mumbai, winning the Gold Medal for the highest marks in the first year of LLB. He has also done MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, the University of Delhi with distinction.

Jain has vast experience in HR, Administrative and Financial matters and has held important positions at Divisional and HQ level in Railways followed by a stint as Executive Director in Railway Board, and later as General Manager HR in RVNL.

Jain has also served as Director of the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) in DoPT and then as Member of Staff Selection Commission. Based on his varied experience in the field, he has also been appointed to serve as a Member of the Prasar Bharati Recruitment Board.

Central Electronics Limited (CEL) is an engineering company based in India with its manufacturing unit located at Sahibabad, district Ghaziabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a Miniratna PSU under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology. CEL is a pioneer in India in the areas of solar photovoltaics, ferrites and piezoceramics. It is among the top producers of single crystalline silicon solar cells in the world.
