New Delhi: In its pursuit to further upgrade its world-class training facility at the Delhi Metro Rail Academy (DMRA), Shastri Park, a new four-story simulator building has been inaugurated in the DMRA premises by DMRC's Managing Director (MD) Dr Mangu Singh in the presence of Directors and other senior officials. On the occasion, Singh also inaugurated a new foot over bridge (FOB) in front of Shastri Park Metro depot.  This FOB will allow pedestrians to cross safely the busy East Approach Road (the road leading from ISBT, Kashmere gate towards Shahdara across Yamuna) from both sides.

The new simulator building is equipped with state-of-the-art simulator facilities pertaining to train driving, rolling stock maintenance, electrical, signaling etc. besides modern computer-based training labs and other offices. The further up-gradation of infrastructure in the new building includes a state-of-the-art telepresence room, a civil engineering demo room, model station control room, modern library, recreational centre, new yoga/meditation room, new canteen, auditorium, etc.

On this occasion, Singh said, "With this new facility, the Delhi Metro Rail Academy will further raise the bar in the quality of training in the field of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS). Apart from the infrastructural and technological makeover, the Academy has also reviewed its training curriculum with emphasis on standardization, content relevance and cross-training advancements."

The staff trained on a simulator gains real-life experiences and knowledge retention with no-risk quantifiable training at reduced costs and time. The troubleshooting simulators simulate all the faults that may appear in a Metro train and are used to train DMRC staff in quick and effective diagnosis of train faults. The simulators will also allow them to practice the replacement of critical components in a 3D virtual environment. The Hi-tech and state of the art simulators will greatly help in improving training effectiveness.

The construction of the new facility has been completed well within time despite challenges and restrictions imposed due to the ongoing pandemic.
The DMRA located at Shastri Park Depot in a sprawling campus of around 10,000 sqm is a premier training institute in the country which is equipped to impart customized training on all aspects of project planning, implementation of operations and maintenance of rail-based urban transportation systems.
It is known for its role in competence building in the field of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) since 2002. It has recently witnessed a series of historic changes which include acquiring a new name and logo, an advanced website, strengthening its in-house faculty etc. The Academy is ISO 9001:2015 accredited for design, development and delivery of training programs.

DMRA has been instrumental in imparting world-class training to its own employees, besides employees from other Metros across the country. Its clients in India include Maha-Metro (Nagpur & Pune), Noida Metro, Bengaluru Metro, Chennai Metro, Jaipur Metro, Kochi Metro, Kolkata Metro, Lucknow Metro, Mumbai Metro, etc. The Institute has also imparted customized training to non-metro organizations like Power Grid, DFCCL, RITES Ltd., CIDCO Ltd., Cyient Ltd., L&T, etc. Its international clients include MRT Jakarta, Indonesia, Dhaka Metro, Bangladesh, Nepal and LRT Sri Lanka.
