New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Abhay Choudhary as new Director (Projects) of Power Grid, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Wednesday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after November 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e. June 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Choudhary was recommended for the post of Director (Projects) of Power Grid by the PESB panel on July 6. He was selected from the list of eight candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Powergrid Corporation of India Limited

Powergrid Corporation of India Limited, also known as POWERGRID, is a state-owned electric utility company headquartered in Gurugram. It is a Maharatna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power. The company transmits about 50 percent of the total power generated in India through the transmission network. Its former subsidiary company Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) handles power management for the national grid and all state transmission utilities.
