Faggan Singh Kulaste reviews SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant’s (RSP) performance

The connect created by RSP with its employees and stakeholders through effective communication should be sustained, said Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste

New Delhi: Minister of State (MoS) for of Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste visited Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant on Friday. He was accompanied by SAIL's Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) Harinand Rai, RSP's CEO Dipak Chattaraj and other senior officers. The Minister started his plant visit by visiting Model Room at HRDC. Soon after he proceeded to Hot Strip Mill-II where he was apprised about the project status of the new state-of-the-art mill. Thereafter he went to New Plate Mill. The plant visit of the minister concluded with a visit to Blast Furnace-5 'Durga.'

While addressing the senior officers of the plant, Kulaste said, "The connect created by RSP with its employees and stakeholders through effective communication should be sustained as it would help the plant scale greater heights of success." He presided over the meeting organised at 'Manthan' conference hall to review the endeavors of the plant in various areas. SAIL's Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) Harinand Rai, RSP's CEO Dipak Chattaraj, ED (Projects) Pankaj Kumar, ED (P&A) Raj Vir Singh, several Chief General Managers, HoDs and senior officers of RSP, as well as other SAIL units, were present on the occasion. The meeting was attended online by other senior officers of the plant from different locations.

The minister took a keen interest in the performance of the steel plant in the post-lock-down period which was shown in a detailed presentation during the meeting. While appreciating the good run, the minister also stressed on the need to be more market-oriented and said that everyone concerned has a role to play in this regard. He also emphasised issues related to employee welfare and inclusive growth.

In the afternoon, the minister held discussions with various Trade Unions and Executive Associations. He also visited Deepika Mahila Jagruti Sansthan, where he was apprised about the various CSR ventures of RSP. Deepika Mahila Sanghati's President Raka Chattaraj received the minister and other dignitaries.

Kulaste and Rai were accorded a warm send-off at the Rourkela airport in the evening by the CEO and other senior officers.
