MP Mishra assumes charge as Director (Projects & Technical) of NALCO

New Delhi: Manasa Prasad Mishra has assumed charge as new Director (Projects & Technical) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines. According to an earlier order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Mishra has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from November 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e. July 31, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Prior to the present assignment, Mishra was serving in the Company as Executive Director of Smelter and Power Complex at Angul.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Mishra was recommended for the post of Director (Projects & Technical) by a PESB panel on July 13. He was selected from the list of six candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Mishra's profile

Mishra is a mechanical engineering graduate from UCE Burla (now Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology). He started his career in NALCO as Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1984.  During his long service association of more than three decades with NALCO, Shri Mishra has served in various capacities in Production and Business Development and has contributed significantly in the execution of various projects and plant operations, before his elevation as Executive Director (S&P) in April 2019.

New role & responsibility 

As Director (Projects & Technical) of NALCO, Mishra is in-charge of all projects, expansion schemes, including feasibility studies, techno-economic evaluations, planning and implementation of the projects and CAPEX. In addition to this, he is also responsible for all the technical and engineering services required for the satisfactory performance of the various units of the company.

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), incorporated in 1981, is a Navratna PSU, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power under the Ministry of Mines. It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium-Power complex in the country, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
