Mauritius’ new Supreme Court built by NBCC inaugurated

New Delhi: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius PK Jugnauth jointly inaugurated NBCC Limited build new Supreme Court Building in Port-Louis (Mauritius) on July 30. The inauguration ceremony was held via video conferencing which was attended by the senior members of the judiciary of Mauritius and government of India.

The three-storey state-of-art building, implemented under the government's Grant Assistance, flaunts a modern design & green features with a focus on thermal & sound insulation & high energy efficiency. Built at a cost of 30 million USD, NBCC completed the project within scheduled time of 24 months.

The Supreme Court building is one of five projects implemented under a $353 million special economic package extended by India in 2016. It is also the first India-assisted infrastructure project in the Mauritius capital. Spread over more than 4700 square metres with 10 floors and a built-up area of 25,000 square metres, the building boasts of many green features as well as high energy efficiency. It will house all divisions and offices of the Supreme Court.

NBCC (India) Limited

NBCC (India) Limited, formerly National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited, is a blue-chip Navratna enterprise and a PSU which trades publicly in the market. NBCC acquired 100 per cent stake in Miniratna hospital consultancy firm Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Limited (HSCC) from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on November 6, 2018. The organisation acquired over 51 percent stake in Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL), a PSU under the Steel Ministry in 2017.
