NCL clocks highest-ever single day coal production

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has produced 5.67 lakh tonnes of Coal on March 1 which is the highest ever production since its inception

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Singrauli-based subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has reached a new high of single-day production. The company has produced 5.67 lakh tonnes of Coal on March 1 which is the highest ever production since its inception.  

Producing coal out of its 10 fully mechanized open cast mines in Singrauli and Sonbhadra District, NCL has been entrusted with 119 million tonnes of coal production and 126.5 million tonnes dispatch in the current fiscal.

Sustaining the steep energy demand of the nation, the company has supplied 114.74 million tonnes of coal to customers across the nation with 16.37 percent y-o-y growth. In spite of COVID-19 hardship and other triggered hindrances, the company has produced 110.5 million tonnes of coal with 6 percent y-o-y growth in FY 2021-22.

NCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Bhola Singh called it a great day and congratulated all the fellow miners of the company. He stated that the company has tremendous potential to establish new records and applauded the integrated approach system of team NCL. He reiterated for the safety, environmental, and quality first approach during mining coal is in the best interest of the energy aspiration of the nation.

Contributing to the company's stellar performance, three projects namely Jayant, Jhingurda and Kakri have achieved their annual coal production target for FY 2021-22. Jayant is one of the mega mines and was targeting 22 MT while Jhingurda 2.03 MT and Kakri 2 MT Tonnes in FY 2021-22.

NCL is a pioneering coal company supplying uninterrupted coal to pithead powerhouses and upcountry coal consumers including NTPC Vindhyachal, one of the biggest TPPs of the nation. The company is also paving its path to becoming a net-zero company with the establishment of a 50 MW solar plant in its Nigahi area and a slew of other solar-based projects during the upcoming years.
