NCL surpasses last year’s coal dispatch with 45 days left in current fiscal

NCL has achieved remarkable 16.33 percent y-o-y growth and dispatched 108.9 million tonnes of coal against the targeted 108.85 million tonnes till date

New Delhi: Miniratna Coal PSU, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has scripted history by sending the record quantity of coal in record time during the current financial year (FY 2021-22). NCL has surpassed the last fiscal year's coal dispatch this year 45 days ahead of the completion of the financial year 2021-22 

NCL has achieved remarkable 16.33 percent y-o-y growth and dispatched 108.9 million tonnes of coal against the targeted 108.85 million tonnes to date. This performance is significant especially when the energy demand and coal requirement of the nation are soaring.

Ensuring the energy security of the nation, NCL has sent about 95.6 million tonnes of coal with a whopping 17 percent y-o-y growth to the powerhouses. Moving towards sustainable mining NCL has dispatched its 83 percent coal through eco-friendly modes including a merry-go-round, belt pipe conveyor, and rail.

With its 10 open cast coal mines in Singrauli and Sonbhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh respectively the company has produced 104.09 million tonnes of coal with 4.85 percent y-o-y growth in the current financial year.

NCL has been entrusted with a target of 119 million tonnes of coal production and 126.5 million tonnes of coal dispatch in the current fiscal. Giving thrust to the government's initiative for Infra development and induced employment, the company is targeting the 1,650 crore of Capex expenditure in the current fiscal and has achieved more than 100 percent till Q3.

NCL is to contribute to a tune of 130 million tonnes in the 1 billion tonne coal production target of parent company Coal India Limited (CIL) by 2023-24 to make the nation 'Aatmnirbhar' in the coal sector. NCL is investing about Rs 2700 crore on robust and green coal evacuation infrastructure under its 9 first mile connectivity projects till 2023-24 for complete eco-friendly dispatch of produced coal by that time.
