NHPC organises conference on cyber security

New Delhi: NHPC, India's premier hydropower company, organised a conference on 'Cyber Security for CERT Hydro Constituent Organisation' in Faridabad. The conference was inaugurated by Balraj Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC, in the presence of Janardan Choudhary, Director (Technical) NHPC, CISO, Ministry of Power, DDG, NCIIPC, CEO-DSCI and delegates from various hydro utilities across the country.

In his inaugural address, Joshi outlined the vision of the Ministry of Power to carry out a holistic implementation of National Cyber Security Policy. He also emphasised the need to strengthen cybersecurity for the hydro sector. Choudhary, on the other hand, said that NHPC takes a comprehensive approach at addressing cybersecurity and focuses on laying down the foundations for securing tomorrow's cyber world.

The conference had been organized with the aim of emphasizing the need of cybersecurity in hydro sector. As the leading hydropower organisation in the country, NHPC has been nominated by the Ministry of Power as CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team)-Hydro for hydro sector. NHPC has been given the responsibility of providing guidance and support to hydro sector CPSUs, state and private utilities for establishing their Cyber Security Framework. The conference was attended by representatives of 25 hydro sector utilities across India.
