NTPC Vindhyachal begins CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Assessment 2025-26

NTPC Vindhyachal, India’s largest power station, has commenced the CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Assessment for 2025-26, reinforcing its focus on operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder engagement.

New Delhi: NTPC Vindhyachal, India’s largest power station, has commenced the CII-Exim Bank Business Excellence Assessment for 2025-26, reinforcing its focus on operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder engagement.

The third edition of the assessment began on October 6, 2026, with an inaugural event at the Maitri Sabhagar auditorium. The event was led by Kishore Kumar Hota, Executive Director, NTPC Vindhyachal, and attended by senior management officials, heads of departments, SMC members, shadow officers, and representatives of unions and associations.

The assessment team, headed by Dr Kalyan Krishnamoorthy, comprises Dr Kamakshi Raman, Manash Banerjee, Mohammed Nawshath Ali, Dr Anjanabha Bhattacharya and Venugopala S. The team will assess the station’s practices and performance as part of the Business Excellence framework.

Addressing the inaugural event, Hota said that “excellence is a journey, not a destination” and highlighted the importance of continuous improvement. He said feedback from the assessment would help further strengthen the station’s operational and managerial capabilities.

The programme also showcased NTPC Vindhyachal’s operational and sustainability initiatives. Ram Sewak Jaiswal, DGM (EEMG), presented an overview of developments in India’s power sector, NTPC’s achievements and the station’s innovative operation and maintenance practices.

Particular focus was placed on NTPC Vindhyachal’s carbon-to-methanol project, described as a first-of-its-kind initiative demonstrating the station’s focus on sustainable energy solutions. A film highlighting the project was also screened during the event.

The station’s human resource and community initiatives were also presented. Kamna Sharma, DGM (HR), outlined initiatives covering employee well-being, skill development and leadership training. The presentation also highlighted the Girl Empowerment Mission, a flagship CSR initiative of NTPC Vindhyachal.

Concluding the programme, lead assessor Dr Kalyan Krishnamoorthy appreciated the commitment of NTPC Vindhyachal employees and stressed that business excellence requires continuous innovation and persistence.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by M Suresh, GM (O&M), who reaffirmed the station’s commitment to strengthening operational excellence, sustainability and stakeholder value creation.
