PESB recommends BK Tyagi for the post of CMD Shipping Corporation (SCI)

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel has recommended the name of Binesh Kumar Tyagi for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI)

New Delhi: Binesh Kumar Tyagi is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), a PSU under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as Director (Liner & Passenger Services) in the same organisation. He is also holding additional charge as Director (Technical & Offshore Services) of SCI.

HK Joshi is the present Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of SCI.

Tyagi has been recommended for the post of CMD of SCI from a list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. The other candidates who were on the list were each one from Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL).

Tyagi has taken over as Director (Liner and Passenger Services) of SCI with effect August 1, 2021. He is graduated from Meerut University and joined SCI in 1990 as a trainee nautical officer. He served on-board various ships in different ranks including master of the ships. In 2004, he was absorbed shore office and served Technical, Vetting, Chartering, Fleet Personnel Departments in various ranks. Overall 30 years rich experience in various aspects of shipping. He has all-round professional qualifications covering areas like Ship operations, Navigation, General Management, Shipping management and legal aspects.
