New Delhi: Commodore Rajiv Ashok is set to be the next Managing Director (MD) of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC), a government organisation under the administrative control of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. He is currently serving in the Indian Navy.

Manoj Kumar Das is the present Managing Director of NERAMAC.

Commodore Ashok has been recommended for the post of MD of NERAMAC from a list of four candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on Tuesday. Out of four, three candidates were from MSTC Limited, Fertilizers & Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

Commodore Ashok is a second-generation military officer with over 30 years in the Indian Navy. He completed his graduation in science (B Sc in Diving Technology) from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi) and Master' in Security and Development from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). He has also done a Master of Philosophy (M Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies) from the University of Madras.

NERAMAC was set up to support farmers/producers of the North East getting remunerative prices for their produce and thereby bridge the gap between the farmers and the market and also to enhance the agricultural, procurement, processing and marketing infrastructure of the Northeastern Region of India. Presently it is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) with its registered office in Guwahati.
