Republic Day celebrations at AAI’s North East Region

The 72nd Republic Day has been celebrated across all the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) North East Airports with great fervor and gaiety

New Delhi/Guwahati: The 72nd Republic Day has been celebrated across all the North East India Airports with great fervor and gaiety. The terminal building of all the airports were decorated in the Tri-colour theme and illuminated to welcome the passengers.

At Guwahati Airport, the National flag was hoisted by the Airports Authority of India's (AAI) Regional Executive Director M Suresh in presence of LGBI Airport's (Guwahati) Airport Director Ramesh Kumar.

Addressing the participants for the first time on this occasion, Suresh extended his greetings on Republic Day and paid tribute to the great visionary who sacrificed for this nation. 'Airports Authority of India has taken massive steps to develop aviation infrastructure in the region and we are coming up with new terminal buildings, better passenger facilities and implementing the latest technologies at our airports. This will boost passenger growth and help North East India in adding more connection to rest of the countries, he said. He lauded the hard works paid in by the frontline workers during this pandemic. The corona warriors kept us safe and calm during the ard times, he added.

Show Stopper: A dog show, for the first time, was exhibited by the trained sniffer dogs of the CISF who are guarding most of the Airports in the region. From welcoming the guest to extending salute, detecting the dummy explosive and jumping the hurdles, all act was accurately exercised by these trained dogs le by their masters, the CISF personnel.

Certificates and mementos were awarded to the selected employees for their outstanding work by the Airport Director, General Managers and Head of the Departments. Some patriotic songs were also sung by the AAI employees.

Similar activities were also observed at Dibrugarh, Agartala, Imphal, Silchar, Dimapur, Tezpur, Jorhat, Shillong, Lilabari, Tezu and Rupsi Airports.

Extending his sincere thanks to all the stakeholders, Ramesh Kumar said, "I am very much thankful to the employees who have continuously poured in their efforts in successfully operating this airport during this pandemic. The housekeeping staff, the terminal management people, airside professionals, Air traffic Control officials, IT, Communication and many more unseen heroes have contributed a lot in this tough time. We have worked hand are we must be united in all conditions is the mantra."

The General Managers, the CISF Chief, Airline Staffs, City Police and AAI employees with their family members were also present on the occasion. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by the Airport Director.
