RINL celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with a swachhta campaign

Vizag: RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, celebrated the 150th jayanti of Mahatma Gandhi, "Father of the Nation", in Ukkunagaram on Wednesday with a swachhta campaign. PK Rath, CMD, RINL garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid homage to Bapuji in Ukkunagaram.

RINL CMD invokes Gandhian principles

Addressing the gathering, the RINL CMD recalled the services, principles and the moral values of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the Mahatma always believed in the power of non-violence and in the philosophy of truth known as "Satyagraha" and adopted these beliefs that helped in achieving India's Independence. He also advocated the importance of education, cleanliness, health and equality in the society, Rath added. He also said that Gandhiji's principle of business emphasized the importance of customers and it holds good forever in the business environment. He exhorted the RINL collective to contribute to nation-building by realising the goals of the organisation.

KC Das, Director (Personnel), VV Venugopala  Rao, Director (Finance), DK Mohanti, Director (Commercial) participated in the event and paid floral tributes o Mahatma Gandhi. Sarada Rath, President of Visteel Mahila Samiti, paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion.

Special prayers recited

As part of Sarvamatha Prarthana, special prayers were recited by members of all religions as a mark of respect to the Father of the Nation on the occasion. Visteel Mahila Samiti members also rendered Bhajans to mark the occasion.

Later, a Swachhta pledge was administered by dignitaries and employees on the occasion. The dignitaries led by Rath participated in the cleanliness drive in the township.

Awards distributed

Rath distributed "Swachhta Puraskars" to various departments for their exemplary contribution to higher levels of cleanliness activities undertaken during the campaign of Swachhta Hi Seva in various departments of the plant under RINL- CSR initiative.
