SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant creates 6 records on March 27

Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has made six new single-day records on March 27

New Delhi/Rourkela: Setting a unique record of its own the steel conglomerate Steel Authority of India Ltd's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has made six new single-day records on March 27. The total hot metal production of the day touched 15,505 tonnes, thereby crossing the previous record of 15,180 Tonnes, made on December 30, 2020. The total crude steel production simultaneously reached the level of 14,321 tonnes and broke the previous record of 13,336 tonnes, made on October 20, 2020. The blast furnace-1 clocked its best-ever single-day production by making 3,610 tonnes against its earlier best of 3,552 achieved on August 17, 2020.

Steel Melting Shop-2 notched up a hat-trick with 3 single-day records. Highest ever production of crude steel, the highest number of blows and the highest no of casts! The unit produced 12,677 tonnes of crude steel, while the previous best of 11,871 was clocked on October 28, 2020. Besides, the number of blows reached 81 against the previous record of 76 recorded on October 28, 2020, and the number of casts touched 79, surpassing the earlier best of 78 scored on November 12, 2020.
