SAIL RSP signs contract with Arvind Envisol under zero liquid discharge project

Under this contract, a water treatment system will be set up at an expenditure of Rs 139 crores to treat 1800 CUM of waste-water per hour

New Delhi: A contract was signed between SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and Arvind Envisol Limited, Ahmedabad (AEL) on February 18, 2022, for "Construction of Treatment System #1" under the ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) scheme at the steel plant. The contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the system for five years.

SAIL-RSP's ED (Projects) A K Pradhan represented RSP while Arvind Envisol was represented by AEL's Head Business Development Dakha Rajan in the signing of the contract that was held at the projects conference hall. Other senior officials of AEL and RSP were present on the occasion.

This treatment system #1 to be set up at an expenditure of Rs 139 Crores, will treat 1800 CUM of wastewater per hour and the same will be recycled into the makeup water system of RSP for re-utilisation.

The steel plant is aiming at becoming a zero liquid discharge plant in the near future by gainfully reutilizing its used water. Treatment system #1 will play a major role in achieving this objective. By taking up this project, RSP has once again exhibited its commitment to a sustainable environment and the production of green steel.
