Sangitha Varier appointed as an Independent Director on NTPC Board

The Ministry of Power has appointed Sangitha Varier as an Independent Director on the Board of NTPC Limited

New Delhi: Sangitha Varier has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of NTPC Limited. The Ministry of Power appointed her on the Board of the NTPC Limited for a period of three years with effect from November 12, 2021, until further orders, whichever is earlier. This information has been shared by the Power PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Wednesday.

Sangitha Varier is a Commerce Graduate and Bachelor in Education. She is a corporate leader. During her career, she has held various positions. She is Director of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy Ayurveda Hospital & Training Academy, a wing of The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) Ltd. She also headed the Administration and Academics of four Chinmaya Vidyalaya Schools as a Correspondent. Presently, she is State General Secretary in Seva Bharathi, Tamil Nadu.

She does not hold any shares of NTPC and she is not inter-se related with other directors on the Board of the Company. Further, she is not debarred from holding the office of director by virtue of any SEBI order or any other such authority.

As of today, there are a total of six Functional Directors, two Government Nominee Directors and three Independent Directors on the Board of NTPC Limited.
