Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi inspects NCL coalfields

During his visit to NCL, Union Minister chaired a review meeting wherein he appreciated the efforts being made by team NCL for uninterrupted coal supply to the power plants

New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi visited Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna Coal PSU located in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. During his visit to NCL, Union Minister chaired a review meeting wherein he appreciated the efforts being made by team NCL for uninterrupted coal supply to the power plants of the country in the testing time and exhorts for more contribution to the energy security of the nation.

Inspected Nigahi mine

During the visit, he inspected the Nigahi mine from the viewpoint and discussed the mine operation with the senior management of NCL, and gave necessary instructions. During this, the Minister felicitated the best workers of the project and motivated the ground workforce team of miners to increase production and dispatch in the best interest of the nation.

Flagged off 190 Tonne Indigenously developed Electric Drive Dumper

Minister flagged off 190 tonnes indigenously developed electric drive dumper prepared to promote Make in India. In this sequence, The Minister gave the message of increasing the green cover by planting saplings in the mine area. He also encouraged Team NCL for sustainable mining activities.

Watched the Operations of Ganga Dragline and Surface Minor in Jayant OCP

The Minister also visited Jayant OCP on his tour, which is one of the largest coal mines of NCL. He visited the Jayant View Point and inspected the mine. After that, He watched the operation of Ganga Dragline and Surface Miner as well as the coal face. After the visit, the Hon'ble Minister gave necessary directions to the senior officers of the Jayant area regarding the increase in production and dispatch.

Dragline is one of the heaviest earth-removing excavators of the planet used in coal mines for removing material above coal seam while the Surface miner is a heavy machine used to extract coal without drilling and blasting gives crushed coal as output.

Inaugurated 10 MTPA Silo In Dudhichua

Minister also laid down the foundation stone of incremental 10 MTPA CHP being built under First Mile Connectivity (FMC) which will boost eco-friendly and mechanized coal dispatch from the project. He also inspected the Railway Siding of Dudhichua. This siding has a capacity of 5 MTPA for transportation of coal through Rail routes to different power plants.

During this visit, along with Pralhad Joshi, NCL CMD Prabhat Kumar Sinha, Ministry of Coal's Joint Secretary Shyam Bhagat Negi, Coal India's Director (Technical) Binay Dayal,  PS to Minister Dr Honna Reddy N, PA to Minister Raghavendra Yerkad, Functional Directors of NCL, and other senior officers were also present.

Notably, NCL is targeting 119MT coal production and 126.5 MT coal dispatch in the current fiscal. Till date, NCL has produced 59.6 MT coal and has dispatched 64.03 MT of Coal. NCL operates with 10 opencast coal mines spreading across Singrauli and Sonbhadra district of MP and UP respectively.
