The project, located at Khudigaon Pt-II in Dhubri district, has been developed on 330 acres of land leased from Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for 28 years. It was awarded to SGEL through a tariff-based competitive bidding process in February 2023 at a tariff of Rs 3.92 per unit, with an EPC cost of Rs 367.44 crore.

Designed to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year at a capacity utilisation factor of 23 percent, the solar plant is expected to produce around 3,230 million units over 25 years and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1.58 lakh tonnes.

This is Assam’s first large-scale solar power project and also SJVN’s first operational project in the North Eastern Region. The foundation stone for the project was virtually laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024.

SJVN said the project will strengthen Assam’s renewable energy capacity while generating direct and indirect employment during construction and operations, contributing to clean energy supply and regional development.
