Addressing shareholders, Agarwal said the company remained committed to ensuring the country's energy security and meeting the requirements of the steel sector despite operational and geological challenges that affected production and profitability during FY26. He said BCCL is pursuing several strategic initiatives, including wider adoption of advanced mining technologies, reopening underground mines, modernisation of coal washeries, railway infrastructure development, digital transformation, AI-enabled surveillance, renewable energy adoption and stronger safety and sustainability practices.

Highlighting BCCL's transition into a listed public sector enterprise, the CMD reaffirmed the company's commitment to transparency, corporate governance and safeguarding investors' interests. During the meeting, shareholders raised queries on the company's financial performance, production, dividend policy, debt levels, growth plans and investor relations, to which the management said it is focused on enhancing production capacity, improving cost efficiency and strengthening operational performance through ongoing strategic initiatives.
