The MoU has been signed at IIT Madras by Lingaraj V. Viraktamath, Head – Corporate Technology Planning & Alliance Management, BEML, and Dr Aravind S. Bharadwaj, Director & CEO, TuTr Hyperloop. The event witnessed the presence of Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, BEML, Prof. V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Director – Rail & Metro, BEML, along with senior officials from all partner organisations.

Under the strategic partnership, BEML will act as the principal manufacturing partner to bring TuTr Hyperloop’s advanced high-speed mobility solutions to reality. The focus will be on developing a prototype Hyperloop pod capable of transporting both passengers and cargo at ultra-high speeds, powered by cutting-edge propulsion technologies such as Linear Induction Motors (LIM) and Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) systems.

“This partnership is a leap forward for India’s aspirations in high-speed, clean transportation,” said Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML. “It exemplifies our commitment to Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat by turning futuristic mobility into a reality powered by Indian engineering, innovation, and manufacturing.”

Prof. V. Kamakoti of IIT Madras highlighted the significance of the industry-academia partnership, stating, “At TuTr, we’re translating deep scientific research into practical technologies that can transform the way people and goods move. Partnering with BEML allows us to bring those innovations to life at scale—with world-class precision.”

The collaboration combines TuTr Hyperloop’s innovation-driven research and engineering capabilities with BEML’s decades-long expertise in manufacturing and infrastructure delivery across the defence, aerospace, rail, mining, and construction sectors.

Hyperloop is an emerging transportation technology where pods travel in low-pressure tubes at near-vacuum conditions, enabling speeds significantly higher than conventional rail or road systems. The proposed system promises faster, greener, and more sustainable intercity connectivity.

Through this initiative, BEML and TuTr aim to revolutionize the Indian transport landscape and contribute meaningfully to the vision of a cleaner, smarter, and interconnected future.
