New Delhi/Mysuru: BEML Limited has unveiled the BH60-EV, India’s first indigenously designed and developed 60-ton electric dump truck, at its Mysuru Complex, marking a major step in the development of high-capacity electric mobility solutions for the mining and infrastructure sectors.
The next-generation electric dump truck was virtually launched by BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy in the presence of the company’s functional directors, senior officers and employees.

Designed and developed at BEML’s Mysuru Complex, the BH60-EV combines high payload capacity with an advanced electric powertrain and operator-focused engineering. The vehicle offers zero tailpipe emissions during operation and has been developed for demanding mining and infrastructure applications.
According to BEML, the electric dump truck is designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment. It is also estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 130 tonnes annually per vehicle, subject to operating conditions.
The BH60-EV is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), integrated with a rugged gearbox and a 1,000 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. The powertrain is designed to provide the torque and power required for heavy-duty operations.

The vehicle has a payload capacity of 54,500 kg with a rock body and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres. Its electric powertrain provides high tractive effort and instant torque, supporting operations on gradients while improving energy efficiency, acceleration and gradeability.
For safety and operator comfort, the BH60-EV features a spacious and ergonomically designed cabin equipped with a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency steering and sealed oil-cooled disc brakes.
BEML is also offering an integrated charging station solution compatible with site electrical infrastructure and scalable for fleet operations. The charging ecosystem is intended to enable customers to deploy electric heavy-duty equipment in line with their operational requirements.
Commenting on the launch, BEML CMD Shantanu Roy said the BH60-EV represents a significant milestone in the company’s development of next-generation electric mobility solutions for heavy industry. He highlighted the integration of indigenous engineering, advanced battery technology and a focus on performance, safety and sustainability in the vehicle.
The BH60-EV expands BEML’s growing electric vehicle portfolio and follows the launch of its 35-ton electric dump truck on April 10, 2026. With the new 60-ton model, BEML is further expanding its portfolio of electric and sustainable heavy-duty equipment for mining and infrastructure applications in India and global markets.
