New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) hon Tuesday said that it has bagged an order from NTPC Limited for setting up the 2x800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III. BHEL has won this project under the international competitive bidding (ICB) and will set up on engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) basis.
According to an official statement, the plant will be set up adjacent to the existing 2,000 MW thermal power station at Singrauli in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. Notably, set up by BHEL in 1982, Singrauli TPS was NTPC’s first power plant in Uttar Pradesh. The machines installed earlier by BHEL at Singrauli have been performing exceedingly well since commissioning.
Key equipment for the project will be supplied by BHEL’s manufacturing units at Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bhopal.

So far, BHEL has contracted 68 nos. Supercritical Steam Generators (SGs) and 63 nos. Supercritical Turbine Generators (TGs) in the country, of which, 34 SGs and 25 TGs have been commissioned and are operating successfully.
