New Delhi: Gujarat Energy Limited (GEL) and GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL) have paid a record dividend of Rs 384.67 crore to the Gujarat government for financial year 2025-26, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Wednesday.
The two firms are state government undertakings.
"A historic financial milestone for Gujarat's energy sector! Received dividend cheques totalling a record Rs 384.67 crore for FY 2025-26 from Gujarat Energy Limited (GEL) and GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL) in Gandhinagar.....This is the highest-ever dividend paid to the State Government by any state-owned enterprise in a single financial year," Patel said in a post on X.

"The successful implementation of the recent 'Scheme of Arrangement' has truly unlocked the financial potential of our energy PSUs. With the state's direct shareholding increasing to approximately 38% in both companies, the government has received Rs 324 crore from GEL and Rs 60.67 crore from GTL," he added.
To put this growth into perspective, this single-year payout is almost four times the combined dividend received over the previous three years, Patel said, adding that it will boost the state's revenue and accelerate ongoing developmental and public welfare initiatives.
The dividend cheques were presented to CM Patel by GTL Managing Director Avantika Singh.
The Scheme of Arrangement associated with the GSPC Group was implemented on May 1, 2026. Under this scheme, Gujarat Gas Limited was renamed Gujarat Energy Limited following the integration of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation into Gujarat Gas Limited, an official release said.
The gas transmission business previously undertaken by Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) is now operated by GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL), it said.
"Before the implementation of the Scheme of Arrangement, the State Government held approximately 6 percent of the shares in Gujarat Gas Limited. Following the scheme, its shareholding increased to approximately 38 percent," the release noted, adding that the state government, which earlier had no direct shareholding in GSPL Transmission Limited, now holds approximately 38 percent.

This new corporate structure increased the benefits accruing to the State Government through the financial performance and dividends, it noted.
The impact of the Scheme of Arrangement is clearly reflected in the dividend figures received by the Government, it said.
"During the three financial years from 2022-23 to 2024-25, Gujarat Gas Limited paid a total dividend of approximately Rs 81.55 crore to the State Government. Following the implementation of the Scheme, Gujarat Energy Limited paid a dividend of Rs 324 crore to the State Government in the single financial year 2025-26," the release added.
