India, Philippines discuss early conclusion of India-Asean FTA review talks

India, Philippines push for early review of India-Asean trade pact

New Delhi: India and the Philippines on Friday discussed early conclusion of talks for the review of India-Asean free trade agreement in goods.

Asean is a 10-member grouping of Southeast Asian countries. The members are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The issue came up for discussion in the 14th meeting of the India-Philippines Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment (JWGTI) in Manila, Philippines.

"The meeting also discussed the early conclusion of the Asean-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Review, and the engagement for a bilateral India-Philippines Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) thereafter," the commerce ministry said.
