Indian Oil felicitates Indian Para Athletes for historic feat at Paris 2024

Indian Oil organised a grand felicitation ceremony to honour India’s para-athletes for their historic performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

New Delhi: Indian Oil organised a grand felicitation ceremony to honour India’s para-athletes for their historic performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. In the just concluded Paris Paralympics, India secured a record 29 medals, including 7 Gold, 9 Silver, and 13 Bronze, marking its best-ever Paralympic performance. Indian Oil, along with Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), the apex body for Paralympic games in the country, has played a vital role in empowering Indian para-athletes by extending support to the para contingent since October 2023.

The event was held in the presence of Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse; Petroleum Secretary Pankaj Jain; Indian Oil's Chairman and Director (Marketing) V Satish Kumar along with senior government officials and PCI leadership.

The Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse lauded the athletes and said, “India’s Para athletes have once again showcased their exceptional talent on the global stage. You are true ambassadors of India’s strength and spirit. Your struggles, your determination, and your victories are lessons that will inspire generations to come. Indian Oil’s support for these athletes is commendable and reflects the power of corporate partnerships in promoting India’s sporting excellence.”

Jain expressed admiration for the athletes and announced that Indian Oil will be further enhancing its support by introducing monthly scholarships, medical insurance, and sports kits for para-athletes. He also added, “We can see the beaming faces of our athletes, ready to add more to our current tally. Kudos not only to the medalists but to every athlete who competed in the games. The journey ahead is strong, and so is your will.”

Indian Oil Chairman and Director (Marketing) V Satish Kumar expressed his pride in the athletes’ achievements, stating, “This historic performance is a testament to the resilience and determination of our para-athletes. Indian Oil is proud to have supported them on this incredible journey, and we remain committed to standing by their side as they continue to break barriers and achieve excellence.”

President of PCI Devendra Jhajharia added, “My players trust me, and we are already preparing for our next outing. Indian Oil’s support has been crucial in enabling our athletes to perform at their best. This partnership embodies resilience, strength, and determination.”
