Indian Oil's Panipat and Gujarat petrochemical units earn global, national recognition for excellence

Panipat and Gujarat petrochemical units of Indian Oil have received prestigious global and national recognitions for manufacturing excellence and sustainability

New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Tuesday said two of its petrochemical units have received prestigious global and national recognitions for manufacturing excellence and sustainability, reinforcing the company's focus on world-class operations and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

The company said its High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Unit at the Panipat Naphtha Cracker secured the first position globally in the Hostalen Global Benchmarking Survey 2025, while the Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) Unit at Gujarat Refinery became the first refinery/petrochemical plant in India to receive the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) GreenCo Silver Certification.

The certificates were presented to Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, by Subhajit Sarkar, Executive Director (Operations), along with members of the Refineries Headquarters–Technical (Petrochemicals) team.

Congratulating the Panipat and Gujarat refinery teams, Kumar commended their commitment to operational excellence, quality and sustainability, and encouraged them to continue setting new benchmarks in manufacturing performance, reliability and responsible operations.

According to the company, the Panipat HDPE Unit topped the global benchmarking survey conducted by technology licensor LyondellBasell for Hostalen HDPE plants worldwide. The unit achieved a 100 percent score in both the Prime Grade Product Quality and Reliability categories, reflecting excellence in manufacturing efficiency, process reliability and product quality. This marks the second consecutive year that the Panipat unit has secured the top global ranking.

Indian Oil also said the LAB Unit at Gujarat Refinery received the CII GreenCo Silver Certification for excellence in sustainable manufacturing practices, including efficient resource utilisation, environmental stewardship, energy efficiency and adoption of green technologies. The certification is expected to further strengthen the market credibility and competitiveness of the company's LAB products while reaffirming its commitment to sustainable industrial growth.

The company said the recognitions are the results of its continued pursuit of operational excellence, technological leadership and sustainable manufacturing, strengthening its position among the world's leading integrated energy companies while contributing to India's growing global competitiveness in the petrochemical sector.
