Coal dispatch has also seen substantial growth, reaching 154.61 MT for the financial year, exceeding the 142.79 MT recorded in the previous year as of January 11, 2025. This represents a 33.75 percent YoY rise from 115.57 MT in January 2024, ensuring stable supply to critical industries such as power, steel, and cement.

January 2025 saw the highest-ever monthly coal production, with 19.20 MT produced—a 33.15 percent YoY increase from 14.42 MT in January 2024. Coal dispatch in January also surged to 17.26 MT, marking a 32.45 percent increase compared to the previous year, reinforcing energy security for industrial growth.

To further strengthen the sector, the Ministry of Coal has granted Mine Opening Permissions for three new mines—Bhaskarpara, Utkal E, and Rajhara North (Central and Eastern). Notably, Rajhara North (Central and Eastern), allocated to Fairmine Carbon Pvt. Ltd., is the first commercial coal mine in Jharkhand to receive Mine Opening Permission. This move is expected to enhance domestic coal production and boost commercial mining operations.

The Ministry of Coal continues its commitment to expanding domestic production, reducing import dependency, and securing national energy supply. As the sector progresses, it remains a crucial contributor to India's self-reliance and the vision of Viksit Bharat—a developed and independent nation.
