The leaders’ discussion follows the signing of a an MoU between IREDA and PNB to co-lend for renewable energy projects. As India aggressively pursues its renewable energy targets, both institutions aim to provide more competitive and large-scale financing solutions to support the sector’s growth.

A key focus of the meeting was the possibility of PNB lending to IREDA at more favorable interest rates, which would in turn reduce the cost of capital for renewable energy projects. Both organizations plan to collaborate more closely on joint lending initiatives for large-scale projects, a move that is expected to ease access to funding and further lower financing costs.

Das highlighted the critical role this partnership plays in accelerating the green energy transition in India. "The renewable energy sector in India is expanding at an unprecedented rate, and the demand for financing is growing rapidly. Our collaboration with PNB is crucial in ensuring that we can contribute significantly to the country's green energy transition. Together, we aim to support the Government’s vision and help India achieve its renewable energy goals," he stated.

The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s ambitious renewable energy targets, with both institutions committed to playing a pivotal role in financing projects that drive the country towards a greener, more sustainable energy future.

As India scales up its renewable energy ambitions, partnerships like that of IREDA and PNB are expected to be vital in addressing the sector's financing challenges, while contributing to the nation's larger environmental and energy security objectives.
