New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam to strengthen the digital capabilities of its workforce through specialised training programmes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and emerging technologies.

Under the agreements, a total of 800 officers of the company will undergo structured capacity-building programmes. Of these, 500 officers will be trained by IIM Raipur, while 300 officers will receive training from IIM Visakhapatnam.
The customised training modules are aimed at equipping MCL executives with advanced knowledge and practical applications of AI and ML. The programmes are expected to support data-driven decision-making, operational optimisation and innovation across various functional areas of the company.
The MoUs have been signed by Keshav Rao, Director (Human Resources), MCL; Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean (Academics), IIM Visakhapatnam; and Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, Director-in-Charge, IIM Raipur. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MCL, along with the company’s functional directors and senior officials.
MCL said the partnerships would contribute to its digital transformation initiatives by developing future-ready leadership capabilities and enhancing the organisation’s ability to leverage AI and ML technologies to improve efficiency, productivity and operational performance.

The company further stated that the initiative aligns with its continued focus on capacity building and adoption of advanced technologies to strengthen competitiveness in an evolving business environment.
