

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Wednesday said that it has signed a MoU with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneswar to provide two-year residential ITI training in Electrician and Fitter trades.

Under this programme, 40 students—20 each in Electrician and Fitter trades, selected from MCL’s operational areas will be provided with industry-relevant technical skills at CIPET, through a comprehensive 2-year ITI curriculum. This will create a sustainable livelihood opportunity and employability to the young minds. MCL, under its CSR initiative will fund Rs 1.26 crores to provide for all expenses related to training, food, accommodation, and associated costs for the 40 students for the two-year residential programme.

This marks the sixth batch of ITI training programme at CIPET, Bhubaneswar under MCL’s CSR initiative. Three batches (sessions 2021–23, 2022–24, and 2023–25) have already been successfully completed with more than 97 candidates employed. While, two batches for the sessions 2024–26, 2025–27 are currently going-on.
