

New Delhi: Coal India arm Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur to provide specialised training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to its workforce as part of its digital transformation initiatives.

The MoU has been signed by Keshav Rao and Mahadeo Jaiswal in the presence of Uday Anant Kaole on Friday.
Under the collaboration, IIM Sambalpur will train 500 officers of MCL from various disciplines on AI and ML applications tailored for the coal and energy sector. The customised curriculum is aimed at equipping executives with advanced knowledge and practical insights to address operational challenges, optimise processes and drive innovation across the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaole highlighted the growing importance of advanced technologies in improving organisational efficiency. He said Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are becoming essential tools for enhancing decision-making, operational efficiency and productivity.
The MCL CMD expressed confidence that the partnership with IIM Sambalpur would help bring transformative changes across the company’s functional domains through the integration of AI-driven solutions.
