New Delhi/Vadodara: State-run NHPC Limited has signed two long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the supply of electricity from its upcoming hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh.

The agreements, signed in Vadodara on June 30, cover power procurement from NHPC's 1,856 MW Sawalkot Hydro Electric Project in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and the 1,720 MW Kamala Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the agreements, NHPC will supply power to GUVNL for a period of 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the respective projects. The long-term arrangements are aimed at ensuring a reliable supply of clean and sustainable hydroelectric power while strengthening energy security.
Commenting on the development, NHPC Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta said that the signing of the long-term PPAs marks another significant milestone in the company's commitment to advancing India's clean energy transition through reliable and sustainable hydropower.

He added that the partnerships would contribute to long-term energy security while supporting the country's renewable energy objectives.
The PPAs were signed by the General Manager (Commercial) of NHPC and the General Manager (Commercial) of GUVNL in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
