New Delhi: State-run SJVN has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the supply of power from three upcoming hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh — the 66 MW Dhaulasidh, the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and the 382 MW Sunni Dam — together adding up to 658 MW.

The agreements were signed on Monday at Vadodara in Gujarat, the company said in a statement. Announcing the deal, SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta said the company had concluded the PPAs with GUVNL for power from the three projects.

Hydropower to go from Himachal to Gujarat

The three plants are among SJVN's under-construction hydro projects in Himachal Pradesh, and the agreements tie their output to Gujarat's state power utility. SJVN, a Navratna central public sector enterprise, is a joint venture of the Centre and the government of Himachal Pradesh.

SJVN's long-term sales book

The company positioned the agreements as part of a wider effort to lock in long-term buyers for its generation. "These agreements strengthen SJVN's portfolio of long-term power sale arrangements with leading power utilities across the country and reinforce its position as a key contributor to India's transition towards a cleaner, greener and more resilient energy future," the statement said.
