

New Delhi: The Ministry of Power's Secretary Pankaj Agarwal (IAS) reviewed hydro power projects of SJVN Limited in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. During the review, he assessed both operational performance and construction progress.

Accompanied by senior officials including Diwakar Nath Misra and Milind Ganesh Gokhale, the delegation inspected key projects such as the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station, 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, 210 MW Luhri-1 Hydro Electric Project and 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project.
At Nathpa Jhakri, the team reviewed operational efficiency, maintenance practices and performance benchmarks, while at Rampur, saplings were planted to promote environmental sustainability. The Power Secretary also assessed construction progress at Luhri-1, emphasising adherence to timelines, quality and safety standards.
During the visit to the Sunni Dam project, Agarwal inaugurated a double-lane steel truss bridge across the Satluj river at Khaira, aimed at improving connectivity for project-affected areas in Mandi and Shimla districts.

The Power Secretary appreciated SJVN’s efforts in achieving generation milestones and advancing under-construction projects. The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the hydro power sector and accelerating renewable energy development.
