NTPC Green Energy adds 62.5 MW of solar capacity as 2 projects turn commercial

NTPC Green Energy said two Rajasthan solar power units have started commercial operation, lifting its group capacity to 10,516.40 MW

New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Thursday that the second part capacity of 12.5 MW of its 150 MW solar project in Rajasthan, housed under Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited, has been declared on commercial operation from 00:00 hrs of May 15. The company also said the second part capacity of 50 MW of its 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan, under Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, has been declared on commercial operation from the same date. The filing described both entities as step-down subsidiaries of the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited.

NTPC Green capacity inches up to 10,516.40 MW

The disclosure said NTPC Green Energy Group’s commercial capacity stood at 10,453.90 MW, and it has now gone up to 10,516.40 MW after these two units started commercial operations.

Bigger renewable build-out in the background

The announcement fits into NTPC Limited’s wider renewable push. NTPC has said it plans to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between NGEL and ONGC Green Limited. In February 2025, that JV signed a share purchase agreement to acquire Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited, a deal the company said would add more than 4 GW of operational and pipeline capacity to its portfolio.
