New Delhi/Vindhyachal: NTPC Limited’s Vindhyachal unit organised a two-day workshop on “Smart Ash Dyke Management Integrating Technology, Safety & Sustainability” on March 23–24, bringing together experts, plant representatives and domain specialists to discuss advanced practices in ash dyke management.

The workshop, conducted in association with Corporate Centre–Operation Services (CC-OS), was inaugurated virtually by Executive Director (OS) Bidya Nand Jha. General Manager (O&M), Vindhyachal, A.J. Rajkumar welcomed participants, while senior officials from Singrauli and Rihand units and other departments attended the sessions.

Discussions focused on technology-driven and sustainable approaches, including real-time monitoring through digital instrumentation, drone-based surveillance, and AI/ML-enabled anomaly detection. Experts from institutions such as IIT Kanpur and industry partners shared insights on innovations like geosynthetics for dyke strengthening, water hyacinth eradication, and integrated IT systems for safe ash utilisation.
