New Delhi: Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. (OMC), a Government of Odisha undertaking, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TEXMiN – Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad to strengthen collaboration in capacity building, research, and innovation, with a focus on advancing safe and sustainable mining practices.

TEXMiN is a Technology Translation Research Park supported by the Department of Science and Technology. The partnership aims to drive capability enhancement, continuous learning, and the adoption of digital technologies across mining operations.
The MoU has been signed by Alok Kumar Pal, Director (HR), OMC, and Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Project Director, TEXMiN Foundation, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
The collaboration is expected to play a key role in strengthening institutional capabilities and enhancing managerial and technical competencies within OMC. It will also promote technology-led transformation across the company’s mining activities, aligning with broader goals of efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
Under the agreement, both entities will work together on structured training programmes, policy-oriented learning initiatives, and innovation-driven engagements. The focus will be on building a future-ready mining ecosystem through knowledge exchange and academic partnerships.
Key areas of collaboration include managerial capability development, establishment of a continuous learning ecosystem, research and innovation initiatives, policy and compliance training, and joint projects such as case studies. The partnership will also facilitate Management Development Programmes (MDPs), specialised short-term courses, and technical guidance to support digital transformation, productivity enhancement, and safe mining practices.
