One person killed, one injured in container toppling mishap at JNPT's Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal

One person was killed and another injured after empty containers toppled onto a waste oil removal tanker during operations at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port on Monday

Mumbai: One person was killed and another injured after empty containers toppled onto a waste oil removal tanker during operations at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port on Monday, the JNPA said.

In a statement, it said the injured person was given treatment at JNPA hospital and later discharged.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday, it added.

A detailed investigation, including a comprehensive root cause analysis, has been initiated, and all terminals at JNPA are strictly following the prescribed operational procedures and established safety protocols, the statement informed.

It further said no deviation from these procedures is being observed, and all requisite safety measures are being implemented consistently across all terminals.

JNPA said it deeply regrets the unfortunate incident.
