Power Grid commissions Gujarat transmission expansion project

Power Grid on Thursday announced the commissioning of Gujarat Transmission Expansion Project to enhance inter-state power transfer capacity

New Delhi: State-owned power transmission utility Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) on Thursday said that it has successfully commissioned the project titled “Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat to Increase ATC from ISTS, Part-B.”

According to company's regulatory filing to the stock exchnages on June 4, project was commissioned with effect from May 13, and that confirmation regarding the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) was received on June 3.

The project is aimed at enhancing the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) from the Inter-State Transmission System in Gujarat, a key requirement as the state continues to witness rapid growth in renewable energy generation and power demand.

Strengthening transmission infrastructure is critical for ensuring reliable evacuation and transfer of electricity across regions, supporting grid stability and facilitating the integration of clean energy into the national power network.

Power Grid, India's largest electric power transmission company, continues to expand its transmission network to support the country's growing energy requirements and renewable energy ambitions.

The commissioning of the Gujarat transmission expansion project is expected to improve the efficiency and reliability of power transmission while enabling greater flow of electricity across the national grid.
