New Delhi: State-owned power transmission major Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route for establishing the 'WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A' on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.

The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on June 16, Power Grid said in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges on Tuesday.
As per the information submitted to the stock exchnages, The transmission project aims to strengthen the inter-regional power transmission network between the western and eastern regions of the country. As part of the scheme, Power Grid will establish two new 765/400 kV substations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

The project also includes the extension of existing substations in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, along with the construction of 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines traversing through Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
The network expansion is expected to enhance grid reliability, facilitate seamless transfer of power across regions and support the growing electricity demand in the eastern and central parts of the country.
