Power Grid wins 2 transmission projects under tariff-based bidding

Power Grid has won two transmission projects under tariff-based bidding in Western Region Expansion Scheme

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has won two transmission projects under tariff-based bidding, the Maharatna PSU told the stock exchanges in a regulatory filing on Friday. “Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been declared as successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding to establish Inter-State Transmission System for the following 2 (two) projects on Build, Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis,” it said.

Power Grid wins projects in Western Region Expansion Scheme

The two projects are part of the Western Region Expansion Scheme. While one project (XXVII (WRES-XXVII)) comprises of the establishment of 400kV D/C Transmission Line passing through the state of Chhattisgarh and Bays extension works at two existing sub-stations, another (XXVIII (WRES-XXVIII) and XXIX (WRES-XXIX)) comprises of Bays extension works, including the creation of 220kV Voltage at 2 existing sub-stations in the state of Chhattisgarh.

“The Letters of Intent (LoIs) have been received by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited on 2nd March, 2023,” said Power Grid.

The news comes as the government is readying the power transmission infrastructure for the evacuation of 500 GW non-fossil based energy by 2030. The Centre has said that it plans to put the infrastructure in place before RE projects come up in various parts of the country.
