RailTel signs MoUs with IIT Roorkee and University of Birmingham for strategic collaborations

RailTel has signed two MoUs with IIT Roorkee and with the University of Birmingham to establish a collaborative partnership in multiple fields

New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd (RailTel) has signed two MoUs with IIT Roorkee and with University of Birmingham to establish a collaborative partnership in the fields skill development for Railway signalling, Telecommunication, ICT and development of digital twin for railway operation & maintenance respectively.

The MoUs were signed at the inaugural ceremony of IRSE International Railway Convention 2023. RailTel CMD Sanjai Kumar exchanged the MoUs with IIT Roorkee's Director Prof. KK Pant and with Prof. Clive Roberts, Director of University of Birmingham. The event was graced by Minister of State for Railways and Textile Darshana Jardosh, Railway Board's Chairman & CEO Jaya Verma Sinha, Ambassador of Vietnam to India H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Railway Board Addl. Member (Tele) Aruna Singh, Advisor to MR Arun Saksena and other dignitaries.

The collaboration with IIT Roorkee encompasses the launch of professional courses at RailTel's Center of Excellence, coupled with extensive Research and Development activities. The partnership extends to the creation and operation of a Center for Safety Assessment, forging a robust alliance.

The collaboration with the University of Birmingham open up opportunity for the usage of cutting technology like Digital Twin in the field of proactive Railway operation and Maintenance.
