New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for installation of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across 76 ICAR institutes in 24 States and Union Territories.

The projects will have an aggregate installed capacity of 11,109.87 kW (11.1 MW) and will be implemented under the Government Building Solarisation component of the "PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana."
The rooftop solar systems are expected to generate around 1.73 crore units of clean electricity annually, helping the participating ICAR institutes reduce their dependence on conventional power and increase the use of renewable energy.
ICAR will fund the projects, while RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna power PSU REC Limited, will act as the Turnkey Implementation Partner.
RECPDCL will undertake the end-to-end implementation of the projects through its empanelled EPC-cum-O&M agencies. The scope will include design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the rooftop solar systems, followed by five years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M).
The MoA has been signed by Jaspal Singh Kushwaha, General Manager, Renewable Division, RECPDCL, and Kumar Rajesh, Director (GAC), ICAR.

The signing ceremony was attended by M. L. Jat, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General, ICAR; Sandeep Sarkar, Additional Secretary, DARE and Financial Advisor, ICAR; Gyanendra D. Tripathi, IAS, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR; and Prince Dhawan, IAS, CEO, RECPDCL.
RECPDCL is implementing the initiative following its designation by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as the Scheme Implementation Partner for Government Building Solarisation under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
